Sant’Antonino route 3800 m
It winds along the hill on the border with the municipalities of Bogogno and Borgomanero for almost 4 kilometers between woods, country roads and farmhouses, following the route of the Camminata di San Prospero. Thanks to its 4 accesses, it is possible to fully personalize your experience in nature by alternating undulating stretches with flat areas with panoramic views of the town of Cressa and the Monte Rosa chain. The Novara Hills Walk – (Stage 2, Via della Sesia) Bogogno – Borgomanero 16 Km
We set off again from Bogogno following the provincial road towards Cressa . We climb the hill towards the Oratory of Sant’Antonino , where we meet the turnoff for the town center. The path continues through the vineyards to the beautiful Cascina Sant’Eurosia. We then reach the extremely panoramic church of Sant’Alessandro.From here, head north to Santa Cristina , with the La Manèra Museum of Peasant Civilization and the terrace of the Parish Church, with its large panoramic table. A steep climb leads to Cascina Cima, which you bypass before continuing north, passing through
Maggiate Inferiore (we are in the municipality of Gattico – Veruno) and then reaching the country church of the Madonna della Neve. From here, you head west: you cross a ford and reach the outskirts of Borgomanero and the train station. You then pass villa Marazza and Palazzo Tornielli , reaching the square with
the parish church and the statue of the Madonna , the symbol of the city. You turn right onto Corso Garibaldi and end the stage at Villa Zanetta, home of the
Borgomanero chapter of the Italian Alpine Club .
Some recommended routes are developed on municipal roads, in these situations remember that you must always comply with the rules of the road:
- use pavement or pedestrian path if present
- cross the road at pedestrian crossings
- in case of absence of sidewalk/ pedestrian path must keep the side of the road contrary to the direction of the car
- in case of excursion in low visibility conditions (evening/night) it is strongly recommended to use high visibility devices (reflective jackets and torch).
