HISTORY

The origins

We are in 1975 and this is where the time travel of the Cressalonga starts. This year the Pro Cressa of President Vittorio Valsesia decides to organize a running event in autumn, on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of Madonna delle Grazie church.

Golden years

The following years marked the consecration of the Cressalonga among the most popular non-competitive running events in the territory of Novara. Between a year with bad weather and a sunny spring, 1981 is the year. That 12 April was staged a’ edition of charity that bring to Cressa almost 3000 people.

The return with A.M.C.

The year 2000 is just around the corner. A young man, Marco Valli, who is passionate about running, has reintroduced the event to the Gamba d’Oro calendar. Thanks to the collaboration with the A.M.C. group, we have a constant organization of the Cressalonga.

Boom and after years

After the renaming of the organizational group in Podistica 2005 Cressa there is a return to the past in the organization. The original 2 and 10 km tracks are maintained and some parts of old paths of the first editions (Sant’Eurosia, San Carlo and Canova) are inserted. These are the years of an ever-stronger interest that culminates with the record of 2011, were 999 participants in the 23th Cressalonga.

Today… tomorrow… and…

Cressalonga has become a classic stage of non-competitive running in Novara bringing to the village every year dozens of athletes. A thank you goes to all those who with passion and commitment make sure that the event always arrives towards new traguardi.
